JAKARTA - The Disney + streaming service presents a feature to watch together or GroupWatch. Later users can watch a Disney movie show together even though they are in separate places.

Quoted from Engadget, Thursday, October 1, this feature is finally available for users in the United States, after being tested in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This feature will be available on television devices, web browsers, mobile devices, and Smart TVs.

Jerrell Jimerson, Senior VP Product Management for Disney + said GroupWatch has been working for some time, but the engineering team at Disney Streaming Services are waiting to roll out the feature widely until they know it will work as intended.

In particular, they are focused on ensuring that all video streams are in sync. Jimerson notes that the feature is designed to work even if people are watching on different devices, in different countries, and with different internet bandwidths.

Disney + customers in the United States themselves will now see an icon that will allow them to start GroupWatch. They can then invite friends to join them, with invites only sendable via mobile or web, but streams can be watched on any supported device.

Streaming starts only after the user who invited GroupWatch has started the selected content. If a user joins the stream late, they'll join at the same point in the title process time as the rest of the audience.

While they are watching, users can interact within the app by sharing emojis with each other. Additional communication, such as sending text messages, should take place outside of the app, but Jimerson says his team is exploring adding more features that enable user interaction in the future.

GroupWatch will be available for all Disney + filen titles, provided they are accessed in the same user's region. This feature is expected to launch in Europe later this fall after launching in the United States.
