JAKARTA - The government has officially increased the rate of Value Added Tax (VAT) from 10 percent to 11 percent, starting April 1, 2022.

This VAT increase raises many questions whether it will affect game vouchers or not. However, on the same day in a press release, the Marketing and Operations Manager of Wallet Codes Indonesia, Vita Paulina, confirmed that there had been no discussion on raising the price of game vouchers to comply with the policy.

According to Vita, with the policy of increasing VAT prices, Wallet Codes Indonesia has carried out an adjustment strategy.

For information, Wallet Codes has 15 products, including Steam Wallet, UC PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends Diamonds, Point Blank Cash, Ayodance Megaxus Mi Cash, Roblox Gift Cards, Free Fire Diamonds, LifeAfter Credits, Ragnarok M Eternal Love BCC, Lords Mobile Diamonds, Call of Duty Cash, Saint Seiya Awakening Coupons, Valorant Points, Google Play Gift Cards, and Playstation Network Cards.

The 11 percent VAT increase has an impact on the in-game purchase transaction process via the Google PlayStore. This VAT is levied for Android users who wish to top-up the in-game currency.

One example is the price increase when you want to buy a Twilight Pass (Starlight Member) in MLBB games. Generally, the price of a Twilight Pass is IDR 149,000, after being subject to VAT, the price is now IDR 165,390. Whereas previously, players only needed to pay Rp. 163,900.

Not only applies to transactions in Mobile Legend, several other popular games such as Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Free Fire are also subject to a VAT burden of 11 percent.
