JAKARTA - Spotify is now testing a new feature called Featured Curators, where users who have a playlist with a large number of followers will often appear next to the streaming music service's official playlist.

The company says the curators chosen for this feature are music lovers with a large following and a popular playlist on Spotify.

Featured Curators are also a way for listeners to discover more music on the platform.

Users in certain markets will start seeing recommended Featured Curators playlists within the app and on their homepage. Spotify plans to change the new feature during the test period.

"Our goal has always been to make Spotify the number one destination for the best listening experience, and with this trial, we're giving listeners a new way to discover music from their engaged fellow fans," Spotify said.

"We're always testing out unique and different listening experiences and programs for our fans, and we're excited to see this one unfold."

Launching TechCrunch, Tuesday, April 5, with this trial, Spotify says it is experimenting with creating and discovering playlists further after the launch of successful flagship playlists like Discovery Weekly.

This trial comes a few days after Spotify updated its popular playlist creation tool called Blend.

The feature currently allows two Spotify users to see where their musical tastes overlap by combining their favorite songs to find what they have in common.

This blend is then updated daily with new songs based on everyone's listening habits. Last week, Spotify expanded Blend to allow users to create playlists of up to 10 people, or even with some of their favorite artists.

The streaming music service with the green logo has partnered with several artists, including BTS, Charli XCX, Kacey Musgraves, Lauv, Megan Thee Stallion, Mimi Webb, Tai Verdes, Xam and others to allow Spotify users to combine their musical tastes into one playlist. Blend.

In addition to working with artists, Spotify has updated Blend to allow groups of family members or friends to create playlists with them.
