JAKARTA - Sony recently applied for a new trademark for its franchise, Knack. The platform series that made a disappointing debut with the PS4 made only minor improvements with its sequel, Knack 2 in 2017.

This brand new submission of the platform action series that has almost disappeared from the lane since Knack 2 launched suggests that there may still be life in it.

As Gematsu spotted on Twitter, Sony apparently filed a new trademark for Knack in Japan on March 17th. This suggests that Sony still has plans for the property.

Then again, companies filing and renewing trademarks to protect their intellectual property are not uncommon.

If a new Knack game is actually in development, it will be interesting to see how production will be handled, given that SIE Japan Studio, the studio that made the first two games, has closed.

Its successor, Team Asobi, seems to have an ambitious new project in the works that doesn't exactly sound like Knack
