Collaboration Between Xiaomi, Vivo And Oppo Create A Sharing Feature

JAKARTA - The three largest smartphone manufacturers in China, namely Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo, are collaborating on one big ecosystem. The plan is that they will present a data transfer feature, a kind of AirDrop that is on Apple devices.

Quoted from The Verge, they called this feature the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Transmission Alliance. Later this network will make it easier for the three smartphone users to be able to share files, images and videos with each other without requiring an internet connection.

"This is the first step for Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo to serve their users better collectively. We are also opening the door for other Android smartphone brands to engage in providing a more open, easy and interactive experience for users," wrote the Senior Vice President of Xiaomi, Chew Shou Zi in the caption.

Only armed with a WiFi or Bluetooth connection, this feature is claimed to have data transfer speeds of up to 20MB per second, with a maximum speed that is potentially much higher depending on the device used.

It is not without reason that this feature was formed by the three cellphone manufacturers. They want to create the right ecosystem by welcoming the era of 5G connections. Moreover, the collaboration of the three will facilitate android user interaction without having to look for applications from other parties in sharing data.

Even though it's not a new idea, the development of this feature is important in building a global ecosystem. Many smartphone vendors have also introduced this kind of feature in their own ecosystem, through the same branded devices.

It's just not known the final results of the integration scheme between the three smartphone vendors. Because Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo formed the Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance under the WiFi Direct high-speed transfer protocol on all mobile devices.

In fact, this feature is embedded in the Android operating system (OS), which features data transfer via Android Beam. However, this feature is inherent in Near-field communication (NFC), not necessarily installed in all cellphones.

In the Apple ecosystem, this feature is called AirDrop. Applications that use a combination of Bluetooth and WiFi Direct networks to share data between Apple devices, whether iPhone, iPad or Mac without having to be connected to the internet.
