Kominfo Needs Ciptaker Bill To Build Anti-Slow Internet Infrastructure

JAKARTA - The government needs the support of the draft work creation law (RUU) to implement regulations related to the fifth generation (5G) internet network in the country. This will also have an impact on the "anti-slow internet" infrastructure which will be completed by the end of this year.

Launching from Antara, Expert Staff of the Minister of Communication and Informatics in the Communication and Mass Media Sector, Henri Subiakto explained that the Job Creation Bill will have a direct impact on the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors. Where the need for broadband internet is rapidly growing lately.

"People avoid the internet, which is often slow in areas, especially urban areas, where analog TVs use the frequency so far," said Henri.

In addition, the switch for analog to digital TV or Analog Switch Off (ASO) must be passed by law. One of the articles related to ASO's legal basis is in the Job Creation Bill.

"Digitalization of TV can be done by Analog Switch Off, so that the country can get digital dividends, due to digitalization frequency efficiency, so that the country can get 112 Mhz broadband internet on the 700 Mhz wave," said Henri.

Therefore, Kominfo designed policies related to network infrastructure sharing models such as Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), antennas, frequency spectrum, and others. This rule will be included in the Work Creation Omnibus Law Bill, to be precise in Article 60A paragraph 1.

The momentum of the Job Creation Bill in the telecommunication and broadcasting sector can also be used to encourage the digital economy, which is in line with President Joko Widodo's vision of accelerating digital transformation.

"The digital economy is getting smoother. The country gets new revenue in the form of BHP frequency from the telecommunications sector up to tens of trillions of rupiah per year. This additional revenue has not been added to the effect of the smooth digital economy and the trickle down effect of the development of the digital economy sector," said Henri.

The Job Creation Bill includes 79 previous laws, one of which is related to broadcasting. The plan to migrate analog to digital television has been announced since 2009.

Previously, the Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani, ensured that the discussion of the Job Creation Bill was carried out transparently, carefully and carefully. He also guaranteed that the discussion of the bill was carried out by absorbing the aspirations of the community.
