JAKARTA - Tumblr has just launched its second attempt at monetization features. Is a Tumblr Tip, which will allow bloggers to receive a one-time payment from their supporters.

Tumblr's efforts to keep creator content on the platform and encourage more bloggers to sign up.

The new Tips feature allows users to tip their favorite content creators on the platform. To use it, users just select the "Tips" tab on the post they want to tip, then select the amount they want, the maximum payment reaches 100 US dollars.

Tips can be sent anonymously or add a message and see who else has tipped the same post.

This feature is rolling out in the US now and soon globally. Tumblr will not deduct this payment, although standard credit card fees may apply

Tumblr will also not rely on Apple's and Google's internal billing systems to facilitate the Tips feature, meaning that content creators won't be charged an additional 30 percent of fees.

The Tips feature follows the recent launch of Tumblr's Post+ feature, which allows users to charge a monthly fee for access to exclusive posts, but Post+ isn't welcomed with open arms on the platform.

Post+ subscription fees start at $3.99 per month, with additional tiers from 5.99 to $9.99 per month. Users can use Tumblr Tips and Post+ at the same time.

"We don't reveal our numbers, but we can share them, with the open beta, we're opening the funnel to a wider audience and gathering more insights, especially from international content creators," Bohdan Kit, Head of Product for Tumblr Subscriptions, told TechCrunch.

This newfound learning will help us prepare for a full launch later this year."

Most likely, this new feature is set up to increase users. The platform has lost nearly a third of its users after banning pornographic content in 2019, and is still struggling to attract more people.
