JAKARTA - Niantic, as the Pokemon Go game developer, announced unpleasant news for its players. Because this popular game is planned to no longer provide support for old-school cellphones and iPhones.
The old school Android and iPhone phones referred to here are phones with Android OS version 5.0 Lollipop and below. While the iPhone with iOS 11 and below.
Niantik, through his official Twitter account, also stated that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 will not be able to play Pokemon Go after the game update in October. Because the RAM capacity used is below the minimum specifications.
"The iPhone 5S and 6 only have 1GB of RAM, and we don't want to hold back on the development and implementation of features for the majority of other gamers who have faster phones," Niantic wrote in a statement, quoted from The Verge, Wednesday, September 3.
Pokemon Go is not exactly a heavy game, but it does take advantage of many features on cellphones such as cameras, GPS, and others - such as 3D animation - that will suck up a lot of battery power, especially old-school phones whose battery capacity has decreased.
In an upcoming update to Pokémon GO in October, we will end support for Android 5, iOS 10, and iOS 11, as well as iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 devices. Trainers with devices not specifically listed here will not be affected and don't need to take any action.

Niantic himself believes that the loss of support will only have a small impact on the number of Pokemon Go gamers. But they don't deny that they will still lose gamers who don't want - or can't - change their cellphones.
