JAKARTA – Now you can play Google Play Games on Windows, if you live in the right country. Google has launched a registration-based beta that offers access to "popular" Play Games titles on Windows PCs in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan.

If you're in that country, then you can jump into game titles like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Summoners War without reaching for your Android phone or Chromebook. You can take advantage of the larger screen and additional input options, and your progress on the game will stay in sync across platforms.

Google said it would offer details of the beta and further expansion "soon." They previously committed to roll out this feature widely in 2022.

This still leaves many gamers without access, and the current catalog won't keep players interested in playing the Google Play titles they want. Even so, as reported by Engadget, this is a big milestone for Google.

While the company has long made Google Play media services available for Windows (if usually over the web), games have been a glaring exception. Not that the relaxed requirements will hurt Google. But the goal is to provide a seamless jump from Android phones or Chrome OS machines, so the company can still “win” no matter how you play.
