JAKARTA – Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR) is collaborating with London-based airline Neuron Innovation. The partnership is aimed at piloting drone data feeders and storage by utilizing a public ledger consensus.
Cryptopotato reports that Neuron Innovation has conducted trials of drone data collection supported by the UK government. The test uses Hedera Hashgraph's public ledger consensus protocol. The collaboration between Hedera and Neuron enables the collection, storage and booking of millions of data points connected to drone flights. The aim of the project is to allow drones to seamlessly merge with existing air traffic.
“We have made possible long-range unmanned drone travel using safety-critical aviation infrastructure. Each flight creates millions of data points, which no other public ledger is fast enough to record and order properly,” Neuron Innovation CEO Niall Greenwood.
The trials, which first took place in Port Montrose, Scotland, in April 2021, included commercial, military and government drones used for long-range drone flights. The second test was held at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire in October 2021.
The collaboration of Neuron Innovation and Hedera Hashgraph to create a Neuron sensor to record the drone's flight path and location data. At the same time, the Hedera consensus will play an important role in creating timestamps of the data collected from each drone and recording it in a large decentralized public.
It is one of several drone-related programs supported by the UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The idea is to develop a process of tracking and following drones and other drones that are so easy to do after flight that they are invisible.
For information, Hedera Hashgraph is a blockchain network that works based on proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus. Its consensus service uses proof-of-concept (PoC) to determine the feasibility of a concept. Hedera also has its own native token, HBAR. As of writing HBAR is trading at IDR 3,905, an increase of 0.6 percent in the last 24 hours as data reports from Coingecko.
