JAKARTA - Tinder has partnered with Spotify to bring a new music feature to its dating app. Make users use the application more often.
The feature will soon be available in the Explore section of the app in the coming weeks globally. Music Mode allows users to hear other users' favorite songs as they scroll through profiles.
This mode will work if a user links their Spotify account and adds Anthem to their profile. Users who swipe must also activate Music Mode in the Explore section if they want to try this feature.
"Now with Music Mode, our users can experience that feeling when you're at a party and you find someone else liking the same song as you," said Tinder vice president of product innovation, Kyle Miller.
"It's amazing how adding music as another element of discovery enhances the entire experience on Tinder. Songs are so personal, and Music Mode is the place to spark something new through music."
The app hopes that by introducing Music Mode, it can bring out the natural bond between music and human relations through its services while trying to emulate a party-like atmosphere.
With the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, this party-like atmosphere can be a bit of entertainment if the government re-imposes restrictions.
Tinder added a new Explore tab in September this year, which includes yet another new and innovative way to find matches.
There are filters to ensure users only see other verified users, and groups that are segmented into interests, such as games, foodies, and music lovers.
Further new features will be tested under the Explore tab in the future, as Tinder is looking to expand beyond its current swipe mechanism.
