Reduce Plastic Wrap, Gajah Tunggal Wants To Succeed In The Sustainable Development Goals Program

JAKARTA – In an effort to support a clean environmental campaign, PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk has started to reduce the use of plastic. This is done because so far the national vehicle tire manufacturer has wrapped its products in plastic, which can become waste and pollute the environment.

Gajah Tunggal wants to succeed in government policies such as in Presidential Regulation Number 97 of 2017 which sets a target of reducing waste to 30 percent by 2025.

This is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in an effort to prosper the community which includes 17 goals. One of them is to take an active role in protecting the environment.

"The reduction of plastic use is implemented gradually on IRC and Zeneos motorcycle tires starting in November 2021. Even though they no longer use plastic wrap, the quality and performance of the product will not change because PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk always provides the best products and services to consumers around the world," said Leonard Gozali Head of Marketing Division of PT. Gajah Tunggal Tbk to the media, Friday, November 19.

This policy has previously been applied to GT Radial car tires which no longer use plastic wrap.

Gajah Tunggal has implemented several initiatives by optimizing the role of Research and Development to produce environmentally friendly products such as IRC Ecotrax and GT Radial Champiro Ecotec car tires.

This product is able to save fuel and aims to create a sustainable future by taking into account three central factors, namely Environmental, Social, and Governance, known as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

In addition, Gajah Tunggal also reforested the factory area and treated waste to ensure that there was no environmental pollution.
