JAKARTA – Several social media applications such as Snapchat, Spotify, and Alphabet's Google Cloud are back online after experiencing a brief global blackout on Tuesday, November 16.

Google said the problem with its Cloud Network, which sees Etsy, Spotify, and Snap Inc as clients, was partially resolved soon after thousands of users flagged it on the outage tracking website downdetector.com.

The Google Cloud dashboard previously indicated that services including cloud developer tools, cloud consoles, and cloud engines were facing crashes.

Spotify said it was aware of "some of these issues and is currently examining them". This comes after more than 50.000 users reported issues with DownDetector, but the glitch has been resolved, according to the website.

"Many Snapchatters are having issues using the app. Wait a minute, we're working on a fix. In the meantime, we recommend staying logged in," Snapchat support previously said in a tweet.

Fastly, the cloud company behind a major global internet outage in June, said it saw an increase in errors with origins in "general cloud providers, unrelated to Fastly's edge cloud platform."

The brief disruption Tuesday, November 16 followed last month's widespread six-hour blackout that crippled Meta Platforms Inc (Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp), formerly known as Facebook Inc, following a faulty configuration change to the company's router.

Downdetector only tracks outages by compiling status reports from a range of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. The outage may have affected more users.
