Papua National Paralympic Week Fire Carnival Is Held From Tuesday To Friday

JAKARTA - A series of activities will take place ahead of the opening ceremony of the XVI Papua National Paralympic Week (Peparnas), one of which is the fire parade which will be held from November 2 to 5, 2021.

The Peparnas Papua fire carnival is one of the most important series in each of the biggest sporting events for athletes with disabilities in the country.

Similar to the National Sports Week (PON), the Peparnas Papua fire carnival implies a strong message of warmth, solidarity, and sportsmanship.

According to Antara, the torch retrieval and process will be carried out in Genyem Village on November 2 and brought to the Jayapura Regent's Office.

In its journey, the torch will involve local officials, four tribal chiefs, 200 members of the National Armed Force (TNI)/National Police (Polri), six athletes with disabilities, and 10 community participants including students, university students, and the local community.

One day later, from the Regent's Office, the fire procession continued through a number of points until finally, the Jayapura Mayor's Office arrived.

On this second day, local officials will be present along with 10 members of the TNI/Polri, six athletes with disabilities, and 10 community participants.

Then on November 4, torches will be brought to the State Building and 12 athletes with disabilities will be involved with local officials, 10 members of the TNI/Polri, and 10 community participants.

After that, the fire procession will arrive at the Mandala Stadium, which is the location for the opening ceremony of the Papua National Park Tournament on November 5, 2021.

At every stop of the torch relay, there will be entertainment and an MSME bazaar, and other activities.
