Solksjaer Danger Alarm: His Position Will Be Removed If Manchester United Loses To Spurs, Man City And Atalanta

JAKARTA - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has received the green light to continue as Manchester United manager. However, his position is in danger of being removed if he loses against Tottenham, Manchester City and Atalanta.

Last Monday Solskjaer was involved in discussions with Deputy Chief Executive Ed Woodward and Managing Director Richard Arnold or 24 hours after the Red Devils were thrashed by Liverpool 5-0 at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte has stated that he is willing to coach Manchester United, but the Red Devils directors are not unanimous in recruiting the former Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan coach.

A number of MU officials think by signing Conte, who has won English and Italian league titles, it is against reviving the club culture that has greatly influenced decision-making since Jose Mourinho left in December 2018.

Sources close to Solskjaer expect him to stay in charge of United against Tottenham, but the Norwegian has received no further guarantees from that game.

Solskjaer's coaching team is also in the spotlight. Reportedly they do not want to leave the manager and do not want to be made interim coach if Solksjaer is sacked.

Defeats to Leicester and Liverpool have seen a number of players lose faith in Solskjaer, but the United directors have no alternative.

The three candidates they want in 2018, namely Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann, have all been coaches of Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Pochettino is even fully supported by United's entire hierarchy, but he signed a one-year contract extension at PSG in July making it unlikely to replace Solskjaer.

Meanwhile, former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly not interested in becoming Manchester United coach.

After winning three of their first four games, Solskjaer's side have lost five of their last nine and conceded nine goals in their last two Premier League games.

They have not won a league game since a 2-1 win over West Ham on September 19 and are seventh in the table, eight points behind Chelsea.

This Saturday United travel to Tottenham before traveling to Atalanta for the Champions League clash next Tuesday.

Champions Manchester City are the next guests at Old Trafford four days later in United's final game before November's international break.

If Solskjaer fails to bring his team to victory against these three teams, then his position is almost certainly removed, ESPN reports as reported by Antara.
