JAKARTA - Jarrod Bowen had a big smile on his face as his first European goal helped West Ham United maintain their perfect start to the Europa League.

With a 3-0 win over Belgian Cup winners KRC Genk at the London Stadium this morning, the Hammers have made it three Group H wins from their three matches. And Bowen scored one goal with a superb individual finish.

The Hammers' other two goals were scored by Craig Dawson just before halftime and Issa Diop's result from Aaron Cresswell's free kick in the 57th minute or two minutes before Bowen's goal.

Speaking to BT Sport, Bowen said he was happy to score goals in the continental competition. He is also happy to play his part as the London side continues their bright start to the 2021/22 season.

"Good for me," he smiled after the game. "I should have scored one goal in the first half. Even the (goal) I scored (in the second half), I might not have finished it right, but I said before the game I was sure I was going to score when I was shooting! But if you don't, you won't score. I'm excited about my first goal in the Europa League."

“It means everything, looking back and playing non-league… I remember scoring my first goal (for Hereford) against Alfreton in 2016/17. Now scoring goals in the Europa League is a dream. I loved every minute of it."

With this result, the Hammers recorded eight wins in 12 matches in all competitions. They suffered two defeats both of which were due to late goals.

This weekend they will be back in Premier League action, hosting Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
