Grateful To Have Not Encountered Such A Complicated Dispute Case, The PB PON Judges Council: It Can Be Resolved At The Level Of The Sport Concerned

JAKARTA - The Board of Judges for the Executive Board of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PB PON) XX Papua 2021 assessed that throughout the implementation of the national level sports event on Cendrawasih Earth, there had not been any complicated dispute cases.

"We are grateful. There are no problems until the Board of Judges intervenes. It is like the Board of Judges is like an institution of the Supreme Court (MA)," said Deputy Chairman of the Board of Judges of PB PON XX Papua, Edie Toet Hendratno, quoted by Antara from the Infopublik page, Tuesday.

Edie Toet admitted that before the sporting event, there had been a problem with the transfer of athletes which was quite massive. There are several areas that attract non-local Olympic athletes.

"However, all of that can be resolved by deliberation," he said.

Likewise, the results of match disputes, so far they can be resolved directly at the level of the sport concerned, and the Board of Judges does not need to intervene to resolve them.

"Well, there is indeed a problem, but it can be resolved at the level of the sport concerned," he said.

According to him, the Board of Judges of PB PON XX Papua belongs to the Indonesian Sports Arbitration Board (BAORI). The institution refers to Law Number 3 of 2005 concerning the National Sports System. This body is under the auspices of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).

According to him, if there is a sporting dispute, the resolution refers to Article 88 of Law No. 3/2005. The article states that the resolution of sports disputes is pursued through deliberation and consensus, which is carried out by the parent organization of the sports branch.

In the event that deliberation and consensus are not reached, dispute resolution can be pursued through arbitration or alternative dispute resolution in accordance with statutory regulations.

Finally, if the dispute resolution still does not meet the midpoint, then the dispute resolution can be carried out through a court in accordance with its jurisdiction

During the Papua PON there were several cases of match disputes, such as the riots in the Papua PON wrestling arena that occurred when South Kalimantan and Papua in the 74 kilogram class fought for the third place, on Monday, October 11 at the Hiad Say Merauke Sports Center.

The riot was carried out by the contingent hosting the PON Papua, who considered the jury's decision in favor of South Kalimantan to be unfair. The Papuan contingent will report this to BAORI.
