JAKARTA - Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan says he believes strongly in science and supports the National Basketball Association's (NBA) stance on COVID-19 vaccination ahead of the new season starting October 19.
The NBA said unvaccinated players must adhere to a long list of restrictions for competing and taking part in team activities such as practice.
US media reported earlier this month that 95 percent of players had taken at least the first dose, but several players including Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets have not said whether they have been vaccinated.
Jordan, who played 13 seasons with the Bulls winning six championships and currently owns the Charlotte Hornets, said he was not worried about league protocol.
"Not at all. I totally agree with the league," Jordan said on NBC's Today show, quoted by Reuters.
"I believe in science and will stick with it, hopefully everyone abides by whatever rules the league sets.
"I think once everyone gets vaccinated, we'll be fine," Jordan added.
The new season continues despite concerns that the delta variant of the new coronavirus will attack those who are not vaccinated.
