KONI Wants Archery Has A Golden Tradition Like Badminton And Weightlifting In Every Championship

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Marciano Norman wants archery to be like badminton and weightlifting, which has a golden tradition in every championship, especially the Olympics.

"We hope that in the upcoming Olympics they will be able to achieve as well as those achieved at the 1988 South Korean Olympics," said Marciano when reviewing the implementation of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) archery competition at the Kampung Harapan Sports Complex, East Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Wednesday, as reported by Antara.

To achieve that hope, he said, continuous coaching is needed from an early age. The implementation of PON can also be used as a step to nurse athletes.

Therefore, he encouraged PB Perpani to make this PON a talent search event so that heroes/archers could emerge who could be the focus of Indonesia in the future.

"To PB Perpani, I ask that in this event I hope that new athletes will emerge who will become our future athletes. I hope that the archery agenda can be completed by producing athletes who excel. Not only the pride of the region but also the pride of all of us," said Marciano.

On the one hand, he also encourages athletes to uphold the values of sportsmanship, because it is the spirit of achievement sports.

"Implementing this PON as well as possible, upholding fair play, we must maintain the sportsmanship, and with the implementation of strict prokes," he said.

Meanwhile, in the men's recurve number qualifying round, Bagas Prastiadi (Central Java) became the best and qualified for the qualifying round after collecting a score of 645, followed by Arif Dwi Pangestu (DI Yogyakarta) with a score of 645, and Ryan Rafi Adiputro (Banten) with a score of 644.

The women's recurve number, Reza Octavia from Papua became the best with a score of 640, followed by Diananda Choirunnisa (East Java) with a score of 639, and Linda Lestari (Central Kalimantan) with a score of 635.

The men's compound number, I Komang Gde Krishnanda from Bali became the best after collecting a score of 684, Mohamad Mondir (Aceh) with a score of 684, and Prima Wisnu Wardhana (DI Yogyakarta) with a score of 680.

The best female compound number was obtained by Aprilia Dwi Novitasari from DKI Jakarta with a score of 683, Odilla Zaneta (DI Yogyakarta) with a score of 676, and Tiara Sakti Ramadhani (East Java) with a score of 674.
