JAKARTA - Basketball legend Michael Jordan will increase his investment in Sportradar Group AG and will become a special advisor to the board of the sports betting company.

The company's shares rose 3.4 percent in afternoon trading, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Switzerland-based Sportradar went public last week via an initial public offering after scrapping a planned merger with an acquisitions firm earlier this year.

The company did not disclose the number of shares Jordan raised but said Jordan's duties as advisor would concern the US market, product development and marketing activities.

The six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s was an early investor in Sportradar. He also joined sports betting firm DraftKings as a special advisor last September.

Sportradar provides software, data and content through subscriptions and revenue-sharing arrangements to sports leagues, betting operators and media companies.

Among its subscribers are DraftKings, Twitter and ESPN.
