PBSI Releases Sudirman And Thomas-Uber Cup National Teams

JAKARTA - PBSI General Chair Agung Firman Sampurna officially released the Sudirman Cup and Thomas-Uber Cup teams in an activity that took place at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, East Jakarta, Monday.

"We have gone through a number of stages to participate in this tournament, starting from recovery after the Olympics, intensive training and holding simulations. The administration has also been fulfilled. We hope that everything goes smoothly, we don't want what happened at All England to repeat itself," Agung said in a written statement issued on Monday. reported by Antara, Tuesday.

In his remarks, Agung believed that the proud achievements at the Tokyo Olympics could be a trigger for the Red and White Squad to grow a greater spirit.

Through badminton, according to him, nationalism can be more solid thanks to the achievements that are the pride of the nation.

"Badminton has become an icon of unity in this country, and it is the duty of friends to carry out the hope of achievement. Not only does it produce achievements, but there is also the hope of maintaining unity," said Agung.

This event began with a team photo session, then continued with the tradition of respecting the Red and White flag. After that, the event continued with appreciation to mixed doubles head coach Richard Mainaky who will retire in the near future.

PBSI also conducts simulations of handling heart attacks in the field as a provision of knowledge for team members in case of unwanted cases.

The 2021 Sudirman Cup will take place on 26 September-3 October in Finland, and one week later continues with the 2020 Thomas-Uber Cup on 9-17 November in Denmark.

The Indonesian Sudirman Cup team will fly to Finland on Tuesday night at 21.05 WIB using a Turkish Airlines flight numbered TK57 via Istanbul.

Meanwhile, several athletes who will take part in the Thomas-Uber Cup will follow to Denmark on Monday, October 4, at 19.25 WIB using a KLM aircraft with flight number KL838.
