JAKARTA - Pele admits he is 100 percent fit, citing football as ready to "play 90 minutes, plus extra time" after the football legend left the intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in Sao Paulo after undergoing surgery to remove a colon tumor.
The legend, who led Brazil to three World Cup wins and is now 80, was admitted to the Alberto Einstein hospital after a tumor was discovered during routine tests. The tumor was removed earlier this month and has been sent for analysis.
"My friends, this is a message to all of you. Don't think for a second that I haven't read the thousands of love messages I've received from here", Pele said on Instagram as quoted by Reuters.
"Thank you so much to each and every one of you, for dedicating a moment of your time to sending me positive energy. Love, love, and love! I've left the ER and I'm in my room".
