President Jokowi Turns Out It Has No Problem Shin Tae-yong Holds TC In Korea

JAKARTA - Shin Tae-yong's request to hold a training camp (TC) in South Korea was rejected by the Indonesian Football Management (PSSI). They insisted that the exercises be carried out in the country.

In fact, the head of the PSSI National Team Task Force, Syarif Bastaman, asked Shin Tae-yong not to negotiate this matter. If stubborn, there will be an evaluation with the threat of contract termination.

Shin Tae-yong explained that he wanted to hold exercises in Korea or another relatively safe country. This is because in Indonesia positive cases of COVID-19 are increasing, even reaching 1000 cases a day.

"So, during the period of self-isolation in other countries, they maintain their physical condition, nutrition, try to improve their skills and performance through a 6-week training and evaluation program," the former South Korean trainer told local media.

In addition, the Indonesian national team can have qualified opponents if they do TC abroad. Obviously this is in order to improve the abilities of the Garuda squad.

So what is the government's attitude? President Joko Widodo has never prohibited Shin Tae-yong from holding TC abroad. In fact, the state is ready to support by funding through the state budget.

Menpora Zainudin Amali emphasized that President Jokowi wants Indonesia not only to be successful in organizing, but also to excel in competitions.

"I have been ordered by the President, I want to participate in any training (Yes). We have no limitations. We can only train in the country, no," said the Menpora.

"The commitment of the government, the commitment of the President, the directions to me, where do you want to go, how long does it take, the country will pay for it," he added.

However, he said, government aid funds must be used carefully. The reason is, these funds come from the state budget. Kemenpora must conduct a review first if there is a proposal for submitting TC abroad.

Menpora also said that existing problems should be resolved properly. He asked all parties not to get involved in a war of statements in the media.

"We still believe PSSI can solve it well," he said.
