JAKARTA - The competition operator PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) is optimistic that the 2021 Liga 2 season can start in September even though the format of the competition is still unclear.

"We discussed with PSSI to determine what the format would be. Which one would be suitable to meet the quality standards of Liga 2," said Sudjarno.

There are eight clubs that are bidding to host the group phase, namely PSMS Medan, Sriwijaya FC, Martapura Dewa United, PSCS Cilacap, Central Kalimantan Putra, Persiba Balikpapan, PSPS Riau and Persis Solo.
