JAKARTA - Real Madrid scored a goalless draw against AC Milan in a series of pre-season friendlies on Sunday. This match turned into a stage for the new Rossoneri goalkeeper Mike Maignan

Facing Milan at Woerthsee Stadium, Klagenfurt, Austria, Carlo Ancelotti gave a number of names that had been excluded from Los Blancos such as Gareth Bale and Isco and Martin Odegaard who had just returned from a loan spell at Arsenal.

The match statistics on the official website of the two teams show that Real Madrid appeared relatively dominant with more than 55 percent possession and released no less than 19 attempted shots.

Meanwhile, Maignan saved no less than six shots on target from the Real Madrid players.

Even four minutes before halftime, Maignan was able to thwart Bale's penalty, whose direction was guessed and his pace was easily secured by the former Lille goalkeeper.

Milan came close to taking the lead in the 66th minute when Sandro Tonali's corner found Ante Rebic in a good position, but his header bounced high above the target.

Two minutes before dispersal the young talent Sergio Arribas almost scored the winner for Real Madrid but his volley flew just over the bar.

It will be the final pre-season game for Real Madrid, who have only played twice including losing to Rangers last month. They will start their appearance in the 2021/22 Spanish League season by traveling to Alaves headquarters on Saturday, August 14.

Meanwhile, Milan still has one more preseason game against Panathinaikos next Saturday before starting the 2021/22 Italian League season at home to Sampdoria on Monday, August 23.
