JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali ensured that the government would give appreciation and appreciation to all Indonesian athletes who competed in the Tokyo Olympics.

This was conveyed by Zainudin when welcoming the arrival of the first group of the Indonesian team from Tokyo at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Thursday night.

However, when asked about the form of appreciation and the nominal bonus that will be given to the Olympic medalists, Zainudin did not want to give a definite answer. According to him, it will be announced in the near future when all athletes have arrived in the country.

“All (athletes) who have departed must have received appreciation from the government. What does it look like? We will announce it later", said Zainudin at a virtual press conference in Jakarta, Thursday night.

"There must be, of course, the difference is only in the acquisition. But I make sure that all those who go and compete in Tokyo, both athletes and coaches will definitely get appreciation from the government", he emphasized.

On this occasion, Zainudin also expressed his gratitude to the athletes who have fought to represent Indonesia at the world's largest four-year sporting event.

Even though they have not been able to donate medals, according to Zainudin, the athletes have done their best and deserve to be called national sports heroes.

He only advised athletes to re-prepare themselves for the upcoming single event and multi-event championships, including the qualifying round for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The first group of the Indonesian team at the Tokyo Olympics, consisting of seven athletes, arrived in the country, Thursday night. The seven athletes are Eko Yuli Irawan, Windy Cantika Aisah, Deni from the weightlifting branch, Mutiara Putri and Melani Putri (rowing), Azzahra Permatahani (swimming), and Rio Waida (surfing).

According to the Indonesian government's rules regarding international travel health protocols, the athletes are required to undergo quarantine for eight days.
