Winning In Tokyo Olympics Inaugural Match, Anthony Ginting: Praise God, I'll Try To Enjoy The Game And Stay Focused

JAKARTA - National badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting secured his first win in the preliminary round of Group J men's singles at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the match which took place at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Tokyo, Sunday, July 25.

"First of all, Praise God that I was able to finish the match well without any injuries. The first thing is that I'm happy to be able to play in the Olympics because all athletes really want to participate here. So for sure I'm in the first match trying to enjoy every point that exists and stay focused That's what I emphasize," said Anthony in a written statement received by VOI.

Ginting is leading two straight games 21-13, 21-8 over Gergely Krausz of Hungary in their first meeting in international competition. Ginting, who is ranked fifth in the world, did not experience any obstacles during his match.

Facing the next match, Ginting admitted that he didn't think much of it. He did this after getting input from other senior badminton athletes

"I don't really want to think about it so it won't be too tense. Because I asked the seniors, and they were told to try to enjoy it because the pressure and all kinds of things are different from other tournaments. So just try to run it," he said.
