Asks Barcelona Midfielder To Be More Productive, Koeman: Must Score Between 3 To 6 Goals Next Season

JAKARTA - Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman asked the Blaugrana's midfield to be more productive in scoring goals in the 2021/2022 season.

This he conveyed when commenting on the appearance of Frenkie de Jong which continues to show positive developments to date.

Koeman asked at least each of his midfielders to score 3 to 6 goals in the upcoming 2021/2022 season.

"Frenkie (de Jong) must continue his development next season. He has already taken big steps in his second season at the club, he has already developed in his attacking game and, like all midfielders, he should score between three and six goals in 2021/2022." Koeman to Marca, quoted by Antara.

Last season, goal productivity became a problem for Koeman's team after only two players who could score more than 10 goals, namely Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.

This makes Koeman expect more contribution from his midfield in terms of scoring goals.

Last season, only two midfielders managed to score three goals for Barcelona, namely de Jong and Pedri.

Furthermore, Koeman is quite confident this season because the arrival of Memphis Depay from Olympique Lyon will add to the pounding power of the Blaugrana.

Depay's presence is believed to be able to increase Barcelona's productivity, because previously the Dutch player managed to score 20 league goals with Lyon in the 2020/2021 season.
