John Herdman Does Not Guarantee Justin Hubner Playing Against Mozambique

JAKARTA - Indonesian national team coach John Herdman did not confirm that Justin Hubner could play against Mozambique in the FIFA Match Day match at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) on Tuesday (9/6).

"Today we gave him (Justin Hubner) a full recovery day, tomorrow we will check his readiness," said John Herdman in a press conference ahead of the match against Mozambique at the SUGBK, Jakarta, Monday.

He said that this was related to Justin Hubner's condition who suffered a hamstring injury in the FIFA Match Day match against Oman on Friday (5/6).

In the match won by Indonesia with a score of 3-0, Herdman decided not to play Hubner until the end of the match as a precautionary measure after the wing defender felt a slight disturbance in his hamstring.

In the training session for the preparation against Mozambique, Hubner who contributed one goal against Oman, also went to the field but underwent special training for his injury recovery.

"We are in the process of returning his condition so that he can play. So, we'll see later. I think tomorrow is always a new day," he said.

Herdman said his players were always given as many opportunities as possible in international friendlies to show their readiness.

Regardless of Hubner's injury, Hermand is sure that he will make the best choice for the team.

According to him, the important thing for me in the focus of the national team training is the consistency of the players because there will be another FIFA Match Day match before competing in the 2027 Asian Cup.

"We have to get the players to play together, we have to build cohesion, we have to build rhythm. It's important for the players to get that repetition," he said.
