JAKARTA - The Indonesian Women's 3X3 Basketball National Team (National Team) will participate in the 2026 Women's Series basketball event in Manila, Philippines, as preparation for the 2026 Asian Games which will take place in the last quarter of this year.
Fandi Andika Ramadhani as the team coach said that the event which will take place on May 7-8, 2026 will be used as much as possible to get a competitive team composition which will be sent to Japan later.
"Changes in players will be made in this Women's Series," said the tactician, who is familiarly called Rama, in a statement received from the Public Relations Department of the Perbasi DPP.
Rama has called four players to attend the training camp for the event in Manila later. He made a composition change from the squad who previously played in the 2026 Asian Beach Games (ABG).
Two names who previously entered the Indonesian Contingent for ABG in his squad were Angelica Jennifer Candra and Diva Intan Nurfadillah. As for the other two names are Evelyn Fiyo and Thasya Heri Saputera.
Rama said that the selection process was still wide open for his team to be more mature to be sent to the 2026 Asian Games.
"We open the opportunity for anyone to be part of the team. We will continue to search until we get the right composition," he said.
In Manila, Indonesia will start the fight from the qualifying round. In this phase, Indonesia is in Group B with Singapore and Mongolia. If they are able to pass this phase, the Garuda Squad will enter Pool D which contains Japan and Lithuania.
Rama ensured that his team would fight as hard as possible in every match. He also hopes that all players can give their best ability on the field.
"So, children should be able to enjoy the match and make this part of the process to become stronger," he said.
The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi, Japan. This four-year multi-branch sports festival will be attended by approximately 46 countries.
