The Indonesian National Team Is Ready To Fight Vietnam, Shin Tae-yong: The Players Are Confident

JAKARTA - Indonesia's national team coach Shin Tae-yong is optimistic about the seventh match of his squad in the Asian zone 2022 World Cup Qualification Group G in Dubai, Monday, June 7 evening local time.

Quoted by Antara from PSSI's statement on Monday, the South Korean tactician said his team was in a confident condition after successfully holding Thailand to a 2-2 draw in the previous match.

"In the match against Thailand, all the players worked very hard. It made them confident", said Shin.

However, Shin Tae-yong realized Vietnam was a tough team to beat. Currently, Vietnam is ranked first in Group G without a single defeat.

"In terms of game organization, Vietnam is very good. I've seen their matches. Vietnam has a balanced strength in attack and defense", said Shin.

Indonesian national team attacking midfielder Egy Maulana Vikri also admitted that the national team had high confidence after the match against Thailand.

Egy also made sure that every name in the Garuda squad was ready to fight on the field when they faced Vietnam later.

"Everyone in the team will definitely give their best. We hope to get positive results", said Egy.

At the first meeting in the Asian zone 2022 World Cup Qualification Group G which was held in Bali, Indonesia lost 1-3 to Vietnam.

The record of the meeting of the two teams since at least 2001 shows that Indonesia appears dominant over Vietnam. During that time, the Garuda squad only lost twice to Vietnam.

However, in the last four years, Vietnamese football has progressed rapidly. The main factor, namely the appointment of South Korean coach Park Hang-seo.

At the U-23 level, he led Vietnam to the 2018 U-23 Asian Cup final and won the 2019 SEA Games men's soccer gold medal. In addition, Park also managed to bring the Vietnam national team to win the 2018 AFF Cup and advance to the 2019 Asian Cup quarter-finals.
