JAKARTA - The fifth Formula 1 virtual Grand Prix was enlivened by non-racers such as Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero. The two gridiron stars finished 12th and 14th respectively in the penalty-studded race on Monday, 11 May.

The battles of the footballers at the Circuit de Catalunya, Spain are going well. Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois and Belgian Alfa Romeo finished 12th after fighting 33 rounds.

Meanwhile, City striker Aguero marked his e-Sport debut by finishing in 14th place. Kun has a tough fight with Ryder Cup golfer hero Ian Poulter.

Poulter himself finished 18th for Renault, one place better than Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo. Racing for the Haas team, Arthur was in the distended position.

Williams team racer George Russell won his first victory in the Formula 1 virtual grand prix. He beat Ferrari driver Charles Leclec.

Russell had a bad start despite taking pole position. But the British rider came back into the main competition map after lap 20, where he clung to the lead of Leclerc.

Unfortunately on lap 23, Russell received a three-second penalty which will be added to his record time after the race finish which was broadcast live on F1's various social media channels.

Russell drove his Williams car past Leclerc, who were both using a one-stop strategy, to make up for his time deficit.

The Leclerc just needed to race clean after a comfortable 1.8 seconds behind Russell. But the racer from Monaco was also given a three-second penalty ahead of the final lap and it was too late to catch Russell who was able to finish the 33-lap race 2.5 seconds ahead.

"I feel very happy. I'm not used to this win," Russell told Sky Sports. "I haven't done it in a very long time."

As for Leclerc, he felt very disappointed because the chances of his victory were flying. But he praised Russell's appearance.

"When he showed the real pace towards the end, he was too fast for me," said Leclerc.
