Enzo Fernandez Open to Leaving Chelsea, Real Madrid Rumored as Destination

Enzo Fernandez is reportedly on the Chelsea exit door. TalkSport says he is open to moving to Real Madrid this summer.

A transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu would be touted as a dream move for the Chelsea vice-captain.

However, Los Blancos have not made any formal moves or started any talks as they continue to scout midfield targets for the summer.

Fernandez also did not want to discuss further about his future rumors because at this time he is focusing on the Argentina National Team which will appear at the 2026 World Cup and of course Chelsea.

"We'll see after the 2026 World Cup. We haven't had any talks so far. To be honest, there's been nothing (with Real Madrid)."

"Now I'm focused on Chelsea and what's left in the last few games of the season," Fernandez said when asked about his future.

Apart from Real Madrid, Fernandez has also been linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Arabia. However, Fernandez's preference is to move to LaLiga.

Until now, PSG has also not taken any steps to try to recruit the Chelsea midfielder despite several reports.

Apart from the interest of European clubs, Fernandez does have serious interest from Al Ittihad, but is not open to moving to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career.

Seeing the heavy speculation about Fernandez's departure, Liam Rosenior also spoke up. The Blues manager confirmed that he had spoken to the Argentine player who reaffirmed his commitment to the club.

"I had a great conversation with Enzo this morning at the training ground. It's not just about the comments, but also about the future and how much we want to win the upcoming games."

"I would say he explained very clearly how happy he is here, how much he wants to win for the team, and how excited he is for this club."

"He also said his translation and emotions were misinterpreted. He is fully committed to this club," Rosenior said last week.

Meanwhile, Chelsea certainly don't want to lose Fernandez. The midfielder has not directly told the club that he wants to leave.

However, TalkSport said Fernandez was disappointed with Enzo Maresca's departure and was actively exploring options without directly urging a move.

Fernandez wants to play in the Champions League on a regular basis and how he approaches the summer may be influenced by whether Chelsea qualify again for Europe's biggest tournament.

Fernandez is tied to the contract until 2032 after the club's option on his long-term contract was activated. Chelsea not only considers Fernandez not for sale, but is also willing to offer the 25-year-old a new contract.

Some initial talks regarding a new contract have begun, but the two parties have not reached an advanced stage or are close to an agreement.

Chelsea signed Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023 for a then-British record transfer fee of £107 million. Even if the Blues changed their current stance, the sale would not be approved due to financial losses.

Given Chelsea's full control, it makes it difficult for Fernandez to leave Chelsea this summer, but the player remains open to doing so if Real Madrid contacts him.

Fernandez first sparked speculation about a possible move away from Chelsea this summer when he could not confirm whether he would remain at Stamford Bridge during an interview after the 0-3 defeat to PSG in the first leg of the Champions League 16-final. The result in the second leg completed the 2-8 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
