JAKARTA - The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) asks all sports participants to be brave to speak out if there is sexual harassment and physical violence as happened in the sports of rock climbing and kickboxing.

President of the Indonesian NOC, Raja Sapta Oktohari, said that inappropriate and violating norms, especially sexual harassment in the sports environment, must be immediately taken action so that it can have a deterrent effect on the perpetrators.

"Don't be silent because every voice will be a representative of other friends, who may be silent today (still). Hopefully this is the last," said Okto, the nickname of Raja Sapta Oktohari, in the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the Indonesian NOC in Jakarta.

Sexual harassment that has occurred to the rock climber is currently being processed at the police. The alleged perpetrator who previously served as head coach has also been deactivated by the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI).

One case has not been completed, recently there has also been sexual harassment against kickboxing athletes from East Java. The case was also crowded after the victim dared to reveal the chronology through the Instagram social media.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, emphasized that the Government fully supports all efforts made to protect athletes from all forms of violence and harassment in the sports environment.

"These are things that are hell. From the beginning when we received the report, we spoke directly that the presumption of innocence must be carried out, but the punishment must also occur at the federation," said Erick.

Currently, there are two simultaneous processes for the abuse case that occurred in the sport of rock climbing. In addition to the legal process on the police side, FPTI formed a fact-finding team (TPF) to investigate the case.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Bouldering Federation (FPTI), Yenny Wahid, stated that his federation would always accompany the athletes who were victims, one of which was by providing legal assistance so that they could get justice.

"The most important thing for us as a federation is to provide maximum protection for athletes. Their identity is kept secret because they are victims so that they do not become victims twice," said Yenny.
