JAKARTA - PSSI stated that Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong sent defender Nurhidayat Haji Haris from Dubai to Indonesia for disciplinary action.

"Coach Shin Tae-yong reported to us that Nurhidayat had been disciplinary and he was not pleased with the player's attitude. For that, Shin Tae-yong also immediately sent Nurhidayat back to Indonesia on Tuesday, June 1," said PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi, quoted by Antara from the official PSSI website in Jakarta, Wednesday.

PSSI, Yunus continued, fully supports Shin's decision on the 22-year-old player.

The man from Gorontalo emphasized that no player with negative behavior has the right to wear a uniform with Garuda on the chest.

"Of course there is no place in the Indonesian national team for players who do disciplinary actions or are not good. So every player must continue to show a good attitude, discipline and hard work," said Yunus.

Nurhidayat himself was reported to have arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday and is currently undergoing self-quarantine in Jakarta for the next five days as part of the health protocol to prevent COVID-19.

The footballer, who is fluent in playing as a central defender, has attended the training camp (TC) for the preparation of the 2022 World Cup Qualification for the Indonesian national team since May 1, 2021.

Nurhidayat also appeared in two test matches for the national team in Dubai against Afghanistan and Oman.

Shin Tae-yong himself is known as a coach who highly upholds discipline.

When handling the Indonesian U-19 national team, the South Korean man had crossed out three players on two different occasions because they were considered undisciplined.

In November 2020, Shin sent Serdy Ephy Fano and Mochamad Yudha Febrian from the U-19 national team because they only returned to the hotel in the early hours of the morning at around 03.00 WIB and made several other violations.

Three months before that, to be precise in August 2020, Shin also kicked out Serdy Ephy Fano and Ahmad Afhridrizal from the U-19 national team for being late for training. Shin's exclusion was made just hours before the squad departed for Croatia to continue TC.

The Indonesian national team will face the final three matches of Group G Qualification for the 2022 World Cup in the Asian zone on 3-11 June 2021 in Dubai.

The Garuda squad will face Thailand on June 3, 2021, then Vietnam on June 7, 2021 and the United Arab Emirates on June 11, 2021.

In Dubai, Evan Dimas and his friends have undergone two test matches, namely against Afghanistan and Oman with the results always losing by scores of 2-3 and 1-3, respectively.
