Barcelona Immediately Completes Transfer Of Emerson From Real Betis Worth IDR 156 Billion

JAKARTA - Barcelona are one step away from completing the transfer of Emerson Royal from Real Betis for 9 million euros (around Rp. 156 billion), Marca reported on Wednesday.

Barcelona and Real Betis paid 6 million euros each to Atletico Mineiro two seasons ago for Emerson's co-ownership.

Despite the interest of other big European clubs, Emerson is almost certain to become a new Barcelona player after Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia from Manchester City.

Under the terms of the Spanish clubs' 2019 agreement, Emerson was sent to Betis, where he became a key part of the Sevilla-based side.

Under the agreement, Barcelona are entitled to have the opportunity to sign the player for a fixed transfer fee of 9 million euros.

They weren't the only parties interested in Emerson. Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Napoli and AC Milan are interested in the 22-year-old, while Betis are also keen to keep him in Andalusia.

Betis could also make Emerson permanent for the same transfer fee, but are having difficulty making this investment due to the current financial situation affected by COVID-19.

Barcelona have started the transfer window in an aggressive fashion after missing out on the Spanish League and Champions League titles in 2020-21.

Manchester City duo Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero have been confirmed as Barcelona's new signings, with both signings on free status.

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and Lyon striker Memphis Depay will also soon follow. Both players will also be recruited for free this summer by Barcelona.
