JAKARTA - The prestigious Faldo Series amateur golf tournament will return to Indonesia after being absent for about five years since the last time it was held in 2019.

The Faldo Series Indonesia Presented by Birdie Bandits is scheduled to take place at Gunung Geulis Country Club (West Course), Bogor, on February 6-8, 2026.

Agung Budiman as Chairman of Birdie Bandits said that the Faldo Series Indonesia is part of their program which started in mid-2025 with the aim of increasing the competition of national junior players.

"Of course, it also provides a good experience for children to compete in international level tournaments," Agung said in a statement received by the media.

The Faldo Series Indonesia will compete in two categories of participants. First, the Faldo Junior Tour for boys and girls aged 13 to 21 years. Participants in this category will play 54 holes with World Amateur Golf Ranking points.

Second, the Faldo Futures category is dedicated to participants in the 7 to 12 age group. This Faldo Futures is divided into three age groups, namely 7-8 years old, 9-10 years old, and 11-12 years old. They will play in 18 holes played in two days (9 holes each for 1 day).

"Hopefully, of course, this event will be beneficial for the development of juniors in Indonesia. Hopefully, many will be enthusiastic because they have been absent for too long in Indonesia," said Agung.

Previously, the Faldo Series Indonesia was an event that routinely rolled in Indonesia since 2007. The implementation lasted a long time at Damai Indah GC until 2019.

Then in 2020, the event was held at the Riverside Golf Club under the name Faldo Series Asia Indonesia Championship. After that, the tournament was vacuum for a long time before returning again in this year's calendar.

The Faldo Series is an event that is eagerly awaited by amateurs from the age group of 16 and 18 years old. Winners from the series in Indonesia have the opportunity to compete with Asia's elite golfers, even the world, if they can qualify for the World Final.

The best achievement of the Indonesian representatives in this event was recorded by Fahmi Reza (16 years) and Clement Erio (15 years) who finished in fifth and sixth place in their respective age groups in the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final.

This year, the winners in each age group will be sent to higher tournaments. The first and second place winners of the Junior Tour will compete in the 17th Faldo Junior Tour Asia Grand Final at Laguna Lang Co, Vietnam, on April 22-24, 2026.

Meanwhile, the winner of the Future Tour will compete in the Futures Final at the Belfry, England.

The Faldo Series (Gunung Geulis Country Club) is the first international event to be held by Birdie Bandits, a junior golf club founded by Gunung Geulis Country in mid-2025.

"The main goal is to provide affordable access for our junior golfers. In addition, the next goal is to train and guide juniors who want to develop their golf game," said Agung.

In addition, the Faldo Series Indonesia will also provide ease for athletes from the Indonesian Golf Association (PGI) to get special entry fees to compete in this tournament.
