Arne Slot Says Liverpool Will Be Passive in the January Transfer Market

JAKARTA - Arne Slot admits that he does not expect Liverpool to make any new signings in the January 2026 transfer window, but says the club will always look for opportunities in the transfer market.

Liverpool twice broke the British transfer record last summer, spending almost £450m on new players.

However, long-term injuries to striker Alexander Isak and defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni have left the Reds short of options in attack and defence ahead of the second half of the season.

Despite their injury problems, Arne Slot does not expect any new players before the transfer window closes on February 2, 2026 unless the right player is available.

"That's what I hope. However, I have always said that when there is an opportunity in the transfer market where we think we can strengthen the squad, this club will always try to do it. However, at the moment I expect most of it to remain the same," said Arne Slot.
