JAKARTA - Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong asked his squad to be more effective in defending against Oman in a trial match in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Saturday tomorrow.

"That is why we provide training material so that players are more compact in defense and attack, especially on emphasizing good, effective and simple defensive techniques," said Shin, quoted by Antara from the official PSSI website, Friday.

The South Korean tactician also instructed his foster children to increase the quality of the pass.

This is so that from a defensive position, the Garuda squad can also launch a counterattack to score.

Shin also ordered his players to take advantage of every opportunity, including set pieces.

"These are all part of the shortcomings that we want to fix. I want the players to focus on full concentration, so that we can be better in the next match. The spirit must also be maintained," said the South Korean national team coach at the 2018 World Cup.

The Indonesian national team has 29 players in Dubai after goalkeeper Muhammad Riyandi arrived on Thursday.

"I am happy to be able to meet old friends and others. Hopefully I can give the best for this team," said Riyandi.

On Saturday tomorrow, the Indonesian national team will face Oman in a trial match which is registered as FIFA's A match. Previously, also in a friendly match on Tuesday, May 25, the Garuda squad defeated 2-3 from Afghanistan.

The trial parties against Afghanistan and Oman are part of the preparation of the Indonesian national team to undergo the last three matches of Group G 2022 World Cup Qualification in the Asian zone.

In Group G, where all matches take place in the United Arab Emirates, the Garuda squad will play Thailand on June 3, 2021, then Vietnam on June 7, 2021 and the United Arab Emirates on June 11, 2021.
