SEA Games 2025: Putri KW Qualifies For Semifinals

JAKARTA The first seed Putri Kusuma Wardani managed to beat the Malaysian women's singles, Karupthevan Letshaana, to get a ticket to the 2025 Thailand SEA Games semifinals.

Putri, who got an empty draw (bye) in the previous round so that she only played the first match against Karupathevan, recorded victories with a score of 21-18 and 21-13 on Friday, December 12, 2025.

This is Putri's second win against Karupathevan in the 2025 SEA Games. Previously, when she met in the women's team, the victory also belonged to Putri in a two-game match.

"Lawan Letshaana was already in the team yesterday and today in my opinion, he played quite safe and did not die easily. He was more confident," said Putri after the match, quoted from PBSI's statement.

In the latest clashes, Putri was forced to rise from behind several times in the first game, including the difference of one point in the interval. Karupathevan immediately added two points afterwards, but Putri was able to get six points in a row to get back ahead and continue to lead.

In the second game, Putri also faced a game that was not easy. After being one point behind in the interval, she came back with five points in a row and was dominant afterward.

"My first and second regimes were left behind at the interval, but after that I tried not to widen the distance of the points. The field was a bit windy to the side, so I focused on playing in the middle and controlling the attack more," said Putri.

In the semifinals, Saturday, December 13, 2025, the princess was given a tough test because she will meet the three seeded hosts Supanida Katethong, who got a ticket after beating De Guzman Mikaela Joy from the Philippines.
