JAKARTA - The Indonesian Women's National Team managed to secure a place in the semifinals of the 2025 SEA Games. This situation made Garuda Pertiwi defender Zahra Muzdalifah optimistic about aiming for a medal to be brought home by the team.

In fact, the Indonesian Women's National Team started the tournament with unsatisfactory results after losing 0-8 to the host Thailand in the inaugural match at the Chonburi Stadium, December 4, 2025.

However, the Garuda Pertiwi squad then rose in the second match by winning 3-1 when they met Singapore on December 7, 2025.

Certainty to qualify for the semifinals was obtained after Singapore lost 0-2 to Thailand on December 10, 2025. This result locked Indonesia as runners-up in Group A to advance to the top four.

This situation raises the spirit of the Indonesian Women's National Team defender, Zahra Muzdalifah, to achieve far better results compared to previous editions. He considered the SEA Games this time to be a momentum to go home with medals.

"This year's SEA Games feels different from the previous edition. In the past, to be honest, my personal target was only to be able to escape the group stage. Zahra said, the opportunity to bring home the medal was so open, especially after the change in the group format that took place after Cambodia withdrew. This then made Indonesia only have to face Thailand and Singapore.

"I feel for the SEA Games this time, for some reason, I believe God will help us. Especially with the group situation that suddenly changed after Cambodia resigned."

"Things like this remind me of the moment in the Asian Cup. Now we just have to face Thailand and Singapore."

"I don't want to waste it because it feels like an opportunity like this always comes. I have to make the most of it. At least the target is clear, take home the medal," said the 24-year-old player.

Furthermore, Garuda Pertiwi will face Group B winners in the semifinals which will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2025. It is possible that Indonesia will face between the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Myanmar.
