Ferran Torres Scores Hattrick, Barcelona Beats Real Betis

JAKARTA - Fronter Ferran Torres scored a hat trick as Barcelona slaughtered Real Betis 5-3 in a Spanish LaLiga match at La Cartuja Stadium, Sunday, December 7, 2025 in the morning WIB. The victory confirmed Barca's position at the top of the standings.

Barca are back away from Real Madrid's pursuit. During the away match, Barca showed maximum performance to win.

After beating Atletico Madrid 3-1 in the midweek match, Hansi Flick's team were able to keep the winning path.

Despite missing the first goal when winger Antony, Barca quickly rose through a hat-trick Torres and picked up three points in an away match.

The victory made Barca's position stronger at the top of LaLiga's standings. Now, they are pocketing 40 points or four points ahead with Madrid who are in second place. Madrid must beat its guest Celta Vigo to keep a distance from points with Barca.

Meanwhile, Betis is still stuck in fifth place with 24 points. Their position can be shifted by Espanyol who have the same points but lost the goal difference. Espanyol who was eliminated in the Copa del Rey hopes to beat Rayo Vallecano in the home game.

Despite winning, Flick admitted that his players were tired of facing a difficult match. Moreover, previously the Blaugrana had to work hard against Atletico.

We fought hard which made players exhausted. This makes not all players fit 100 percent and that's normal," Flick said.

"But we achieved a positive result. I really appreciate the players," he said again.

In that match, Flick rotated the players because the team returned to play midweek matches against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. Winger Roony Bardghji became a starter and Torres replaced Robert Lewandowski as a center forward.

Barca only conceded a goal when the game had only been running for five minutes. Betis winger Antony successfully broke into Barca's goal after escaping an offside trap by Jules Kounde.

But the quick goal of the former Manchester United player who brought Betis 1-0 up was like a waste. Barca quickly got up to equalize. Kounde paid for his mistake by releasing the assists that Torres converted in the 11th minute.

The goal actually made the concentration of the Betis players messy. It was proven that only two minutes later, Torres managed to score a brace. This time, he met Bardghji's cross which made Barca turn 2-1 ahead.

Barca also stepped up attacks. They forced the Betis defense to work hard. But their efforts remained in vain because Barca managed to add more goals. This time Bardghji himself confirmed Barca's lead in the 31st minute. The Swedish winger scored after making a fine partnership with Pedri.

Barca is increasingly unstoppable. Before the first half ended, Torres scored a hat trick after his shot beat goalkeeper Alvaro Valles in the 40th minute. This made Torres score 11 goals and rank two as LaLiga's top scorer after Kylian Mbappe.

"I knew I could do it [printing a hat trick]," Torres said.

"That's what you really have to do at Barca. And I really want to score a lot of goals," he said.

Barca started the second half with a 4-1 advantage. Even though they have taken the lead quite far, Barca are still playing aggressively. As a result, winger Lamine Yamal solidified Barca's advantage from the penalty spot in 59 minutes.

The penalty was given after defender Marc Bartra touched the ball in the forbidden box. Yamal also completed the execution well.

Betis actually tried to get up by turning around to put pressure on him. As a result, Diego Llorente reduced the lag when he greeted the corner and changed the score to 5-2 in the 85th minute.

Furthermore, Manuel Pellegrini's team added another goal. This time, Cucho Hernandez broke into Joan Garcia's goal from the penalty spot.

The referee awarded a penalty after Konde made another mistake. This French national team defender brought down Ez Abde which made the referee point to the spot in the 90th minute. Hernandez completed his execution.
