PBSI Updates The 2025 SEA Games Squad, Gregoria And Sabar/Reza Enter The List

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was included by the Indonesian badminton team for the 2025 SEA Games (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) officially renewed the squad for the 2025 SEA Games, by including Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mo calmad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in the list to be brought to Thailand.

This squad change was made in order to maximize the achievements of the Indonesian badminton team in the biennial multi-pronged sporting event, especially meeting the two gold medals desired by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir.

PBSI first held a meeting with the Kemenpora team to conduct a final review of the candidates against the Indonesian team and evaluate the results of monitoring the athlete's performance as well as the physical and mental readiness of the players.

Head of the Development and Achievement Division (Head of Binpres) PBSI, Eng Hian, said that based on the results of the review, it was decided to add players to the long list for the 2025 SEA Games.

"The addition of this name was carried out with technical and strategic considerations so that the Indonesian team had the best composition in an effort to achieve the targets of two gold medals," he said in a statement received.

Men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri along with two men's singles players Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie have also been included in the list of additional names for the 2025 SEA Games.

However, they cannot strengthen Indonesia because Fajar already has a schedule for weddings and Umrah activities with Fikri.

Ginting coincided with the schedule to look forward to the birth of his baby. Meanwhile, Jonathan needed longer time to prepare for the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals after he participated in several consecutive international tournaments.

Eng Hian emphasized that the 2025 SEA Games is also an important part of the big agenda for the regeneration of Indonesian athletes.

"With the combination of experienced players, young Indonesian athletes, strengthening technical strategies, and focusing on future regeneration, I am optimistic that Indonesia can meet the targets set by the Government," he said.
