Nova Arianto Officially Serves As U-20 Indonesian National Team Coach

Nova Arianto has officially become the coach of the U-20 Indonesian national team (doc. Indonesian national team).

JAKARTA - PSSI through the Chairman of the National Team Agency (BTN), Sumardji, officially announced Nova Arianto to be the coach of the U-20 Indonesian national team. This decision was taken based on a recommendation from the PSSI Technical Director (Dirtek), Alexander Zwiers.

"Especially for the men's Indonesian National Team, according to recommendations, in accordance with the proposal from the Director of PSSI, Alexander (Zwiers), Exco (PSSI Executive Committee) colleagues agree that we will give the men's U-20 Indonesian national team coach a complete task and responsibility to Nova Arianto," said Sumardji during a press conference at GBK Arena, Jakarta, Thursday, November 20, 2025, afternoon WIB.

Under the direction of Nova Arianto, the foundation of the U-20 Indonesian national team will contain Indonesian U-17 national team players who will appear in the 2025 U-17 World Cup.

Moreover, at the event, coach Nova Arianto managed to make history by winning his first victory in the grand tournament when he defeated Honduras 2-1 in the final match of the group phase.

"Regarding the men's U-20 Indonesian national team, 85 percent of the players are Indonesian U-17 national team players who have just carried out the 2025 U-17 World Cup activities," said Sumardji.

Before this decision was made, the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Erick Thohir, had revealed that Nova Arianto and the U-17 Indonesian national team squad would rise to the level of being the framework of the U-20 Indonesian national team.

"Coach Nova and the players of the U-17 Indonesian national team will be the framework for the U-20 Indonesian national team. We will prepare the U-20 Indonesian national team to be able to penetrate the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup," said Erick Thohir on a separate occasion.
