Complete Day For Charles Leclerc In Monaco's Advanced F1 Race: Record, Accident, To Penalty Risk

JAKARTA - Charles Leclerc won pole position in the Monaco GP qualifiers. The success was tinged with accidents that hit him and put him in danger of a penalty. A complete day for Leclerc in F1.

Leclerc clocked a lap time of 1 minute 10.346 seconds in the third qualifying (Q3). Moments before qualifying ended, Leclerc's Ferrari SF21 crashed into a barrier as it exited the swimming pool.

It was the same crash point as Nicholas Latifi of Williams Racing, who crashed in the third free practice (FP3). This was the eighth pole position of Leclerc's career in his home race in F1.

Along with that record, the penalty threat overshadowed Leclerc. After the crash Leclerc's Ferrari SF21 was seen to have suffered severe damage to the front wing.

If leclerc's car damage is more severe and he is required to change gearbox, then the monaco GP's leading starting position will be awarded to Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing, who finished second in Q3.

"It's a pity I ended Q3 on the barrier wall. But at the same time, I'm happy with the lap time I made. I was able to be very quick in the second and third sectors," Leclerc said.
