JAKARTA Indonesia has sent a total of 39 athletes to the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which will start this week.

The sixth edition of the ISG is scheduled to take place on November 7, 2025. The athletes sent there represent seven sports, including pencak silat who appear as a demonstration.

Indonesia cannot send complete strength because some athletes are making preparations for the 2025 SEA Games which will take place in Thailand at the end of the year.

In addition to pencak silat, the other six sports that go there are swimming, fencing, muaythai, wrestling, weightlifting, and camel racing.

Budget is the sport with the most representatives sent to the multi-branch sporting event, namely 12 athletes. In second place, there is weightlifting with nine athletes.

The swimming trails in third place with eight athletes, muaythai and wrestling each sent three athletes, and finally the pencak silat saturate of two athletes each.

This year's Islamic Solidarity Games will be followed by 57 member countries and compete in 23 major sports. Indonesia continues to set high targets even though it sends a sleek squad.

The Red-White contingent has a good track record in this event. When hosting the 2013 ISG in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia emerged as the overall champion with 36 gold, 36 silver, and 34 bronze.

As for the last edition in Konya in 2022, the Indonesian contingent won 12 gold, 12 silver, and 21 bronze so that it was entitled to sixth place in the final standings for medals.
