JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has set a target to bring home one gold medal from the 2025 SEA Games by the end of the year in Thailand.

PBSI officially released the Indonesian badminton squad on Friday, October 31, 2025. Indonesia's strength for the biennial multi-pronged event is mostly young players.

Head of PBSI's Development and Achievement Division, Eng Hian, said that the hope of bringing home one gold medal was on the shoulders of Putri Kusuma Wardani.

"I hope he can become a good motorbike in the team championship and win a gold medal in individual championships," said Eng Hian in a statement received.

Putri performed quite well throughout this year's calendar. In addition to the bronze medal at the World Championships, she also became the semifinalist of Thailand Masters, the semifinalist of the Swiss Open, and the semifinalist of the Korea Open.

Currently Putri is in seventh place in the world, right behind Pornpawee Chochuwong from Thailand. Pornpawee is most likely in the home squad to chase additional gold medals.

"I see Putri can be more confident after winning a bronze medal in the world championship and I see the trend of playing getting better," said Eng Hian.

Indonesia has sent a total of 10 male athletes and 10 female athletes to Thailand later. From the women's sector, several names that accompanied Putri were Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari and Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan.

The 2025 SEA Games in Thailand will take place on 9-20 December 2025. A total of 50 sports and 574 match numbers are contested there.
