JAKARTA - The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) said on Monday, October 27, 2025, local time that it was investigating more than 150 referees in a professional league suspected of betting on a football match.

TFF president Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu said in a press conference that government agencies had determined that 371 of the 571 active referees had at least one account in betting companies.

He said the 152 referees who had the account put up a soccer bet, including seven top referees and 15 top referee assistants.

Haciosmanoglu said 10 referees placed bets at more than 10,000 games, one referee set a bet at 18,227 games, in five years, but some did it only once.

"We know Turkish football needs change. Our job is to lift Turkish football to its proper place and clean it from all dirt," said Haciosmanoglu.

He said the TFF Disciplinary Council would soon handle the cases.
