World Championship Para Athletics 2025, Indonesia Wins Four Medals

SOLO - The Indonesian athletic team won three silver medals and one bronze medal in the World Championship Para Athletics event in New Delhi, India, September 27 to October 5, 2025.

The Indonesian silver medal coffers were obtained from the women's 100 meters classification T63 through Karisma Evi Tiarani's action. In the final, Karisma Evi made a record time of 14.65 seconds which put her in second place.

While the first position was won by the Italian world champion, Ambra Sabatini, who recorded a time of 14.39 seconds.

The silver medal was also won from the men's 100 meters classification of the T63 which was represented by Partin. With a time of 12.26 seconds, Partini was only thwarted by South African athlete Puseletso Michael Mabate, who won gold with a time of 12.03 seconds.

Meanwhile, the silver medal was won again from the universal 4x100 meter relay number. Indonesia fielded Saptoyogo Purnomo, Jaenal Aripin, Ni Made Arianti Putri and Nanda Mei Sholihah.

This runner's quartet recorded a time of 47.81 seconds. Meanwhile, the universal Dutch relay team won a gold medal thanks to a time of 47.73 seconds.

Meanwhile, the bronze medal came from the men's 100 meters classification T37. Saptoyogo Purnomo, who was Indonesia's representative, recorded 11.29 seconds. He is behind two Brazilian representatives, Ricardo Gomes de Mendonca (11.16 seconds) and Christian Luiz da Costa (11.23 seconds).

In addition to the four medals, Indonesian sprinter Nanda Mei Sholihah managed to break Asian records. Despite finishing sixth, Nanda, who appeared in the women's 100 meters classification T47, managed to break the record with a time of 12.39 seconds.

For this result, the head coach of Indonesian athletics, Purwo Adi Sanyoto, praised the achievements of the athletes. They did not just bring home a medal, but the athletes recorded the best session or the best time this year. They even broke personal records and Asian records.

"This achievement is impressive because almost all athletes can record the best session, and some have penetrated the best personal. This is a good capital for the upcoming championships," said Purwo Adi Sanyoto, Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

Interestingly, in the four match numbers that became the source of the medal, Indonesia's representatives were the best participants in Asia. This achievement is an encouragement for Indonesian athletes towards the 2025 ASEAN Para Games and 2026 Asian Para Games.

"This achievement can be achieved because the athletes undergo extraordinary training. After this we will prepare ourselves to be even more optimal to participate in the ASEAN Para Games and the qualifying stages of the Asian Para Games," said Purwo Adi.

Meanwhile, Saptoyogo Purnomo said he was satisfied with the achievements he achieved at the event in India. He said the competition in the world's highest level athletics championship was no different from the competition at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

"The competition is still the same as in the Paris Paralympics because the opponents are the same, especially those from Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Russia. They are very strong and make competition tight," he said.

This achievement did not reduce Saptoyogo's intention to train even harder. The silver medalist at the 2024 Paris Paralympics has a desire to excel in the 2025 ASEAN Para Games and 2026 Asian Para Games events.
