"Now is the right time to open a new chapter and close the previous round with the best feeling."

"Football has given everything to me. Thanks to my teammates, coaches, staff, club employees, and rivals who have encouraged me to give my best."

"To the Nastic de Tarragona, where I learned to live in the professional dressing room and grew up with great team-mates. To Valencia CF, a club that allowed me to make my dream of debuting in the main division."

"To FC Barcelona, a club in my life. The club that saw me grow up as a child and allowed me to reach the peak of my career, live more than a decade of unforgettable memories, and win every title possible."

"To the Spanish National Team, I am honored to wear this uniform and grateful to be a small part of your history."

"Finally, to Inter Miami, thank you for opening your doors and kindness, and giving me the opportunity to enjoy this trip until the last moment."

"Thank you to all the fans for your kindness. You taught me that this uniform is not only worn, but felt."

"Today I closed this chapter by knowing that I have given everything, football has and will always be an important part of my life. Thank you football for everything," said Alba.

Alba previously signed a contract extension with Inter Miami in May 2025 until the 2027 MLS season, before deciding to cancel his contract and retire.

The defender first joined Inter Miami from Barcelona in July 2023, in a reunion with his Barcelona teammates, Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.

He later became an integral part of the club's recent success. He brought the club to the inaugural League Cup (Leagues Cup) trophy in 2023, Supporters' Shield 2024, and helped set the league record for the most points in a season.

Alba scored 10 goals and 27 assists in 63 regular MLS games for three seasons. He often collaborated with Messi in the final third of the pitch to inspire Inter Miami to win.

The defender has now ended his resounding career for 16 years. During 11 seasons at Barcelona, he helped the Catalan club win six La Liga titles and one Champions League with 37 goals and 107 assists in 605 matches in all competitions.

Together with Spain, he won Euro 2012 and UEFA Nations League 2023.
